ADSL broadband connections stay popular in Czech and Slovakia too and people are asking for integrated products with beneficial functionality.

Router we tested comes from Vigor2600 series, which contains wide supply of modems.Differences of individual routers are in wireless technology or ISDN adapter. The accessories of modem we tested have ADSL, USB, RJ-45 and also two FXS adapters for VoIP. The only thing what?s missing is ISDN adapter. Good news is presence of two adjustable antennas, which ensure good propagation of sygnal, and doesn?t have a problem with thicker walls. Setting ADSL is easy also for less known users because of products auto-installation function ?all you have to do is type in the name and password.

The function VoIP, which Vigor2600 offers works on the same procedure. Difference is in technique of continuation connection. It is possible to connect two phones and establish contact without any software. It is enough if you set up to every station IP address, name and number serving for quick choice of user. Function VPN and IPSec will remove all doubts concerned with security of making a phone call through internet. Also other functions will take care of protection of phone tapping.

Vigor2600V is accessored with cryptographic key 802.1x, control access MAC address and possible utilization WPA/PSK (pre-shared key). Function PSK restricts access to wireless net illegal users. All set-ups are pursued over web interface. For good security contribute quality of firewall, which helps utilization of functions NAT or DDOS and SPI.

At this point there are some doubts on Forrester's appraisal: first that price in Italy is reacheable only without counting the VAT, otherwise the price for an Adsl flat rate is 33 Euro per month. Second, Adsl for end users are cheap, that the real broadband speed is higher than an Isdn modem. Considered this, it is correct to put Italy at the second position in Europe for the convenience of ADSL?

DrayTek that offers data communication products nd solutions merely to home sector and SMEs has come with new router family called Vigor 2600V. The most versatile model 2600VGi includes ADSL-router, WLAN access point, VOIP gateway for IP phone calls, ISDN support, IP filtering firewall, printer sharing and NAT for LAN connection sharing.

The new feature compared to other Vigor2600 products is bandwidth prioritising. The aim is to leave enough bandwidth to IP phoning while for example downloading files from the Internet.
